Maybe you’ve heard of the 10,000 hour rule? The “10,000 hour rules” states that the only way to become a master of something is to practice it for 10,000 hours.Īnders Ericsson is the scientist who did the research behind the “10,000 hour rule”. Peak explains the latest findings from the new science of expertise (and it’s extremely helpful for aspiring music producers). He recently teamed up with Robert Pool, a renowned science, technology and medical writer, to author the fantastic book Peak. He made a name for himself studying chess champions, violin virtuosos, star athletes and memory mavens. If you want to make great music that touches hearts and makes people feel something – whether they’re dancing in a nightclub or relaxing in their living room – there’s one guy you need to pay attention to above all others:Īnders Ericsson is the world’s preeminent expert on learning and elite performance. From “aha” to “oh shit”, John’s sharing everything on his journey to 100,000 fans. And it is incredibly helpful when you have a certain sound in mind you want to produce. This is a guest post by John Lavido. But synthorial is the fastest way i knoe to learn this. Of course this isn't something you'll learn fast, you're only in for a week.
SYNTORIAL SKIP HOW TO
Your ears are tired if you already produced the whole day, heard lots of music etc.Įdit: The whole point of learning how to recreate sounds is to be able to design sounds you just have in your mind. Don't just press on next lesson, you won't learn much this way.Īnd, of course, you should do the exercises with fresh ears.
SYNTORIAL SKIP PATCH
Try to play with the parameters of your patch to hear all the nuances of each sounds. If you do mistakes compare your patch with the hidden patch and try to hear where the differences are. My advise: don't make the next lesson before you got at least 2 stars in every single exercise and group exercise in your current lesson. You should really try to HEAR and identify what every knob and parameter does in each lesson and get used to it before you continue. If you already have so much struggle now you should probably start from the beginning again.

You'll get a much better understanding for sound design this way than you would if you'd just learn how every knob works on his own. With the group exercises you'll learn how all the settings work in context. I mean of course you can skip then, it's up to you in the end, but then you should ask yourself why you bought that program. Yeah in my opinion the group exercises are essential. so if so any advice, (hopefully not just tough it up buttercup), u have is greatly appreciated. im sure alot of people will say my plan is lazy and im doing it wrong. or what have others done who have completed the course. I understand its probably a really good way to solidify your belief and confidence in the skills but i feel like the best plan of attack for me, right now at least, would be to just go through the whole thing with less focus on the groups and learn all the basics and than go back again and do it all over with groups and master them. mind u, im sure it would be handy to be able to. and even when i get them right i dont really feel like im learning a whole lot other than how to match a sound i dont think i would be doing in the real world. I was thinking of doing this with everything really cause i end up spending like an hour on the groups and like 15 minutes on the lessons before, and still fail. and tbh it breaks my heart :P so i end up just trying my best and failing and than taking pictures of the answers to get to the next level.
SYNTORIAL SKIP TRIAL
usually after alot of time and trial and error, I manage to get the preset to what i feel sounds close enough really. and now that im on like level 8 its basicAlly impossible. but than they smash you with an excessively hard group challeneges that get exponentially harder as you get higher in level. I am having not much difficulty with the individual lessons as in when they introduce the new parameter and its usually just the couple things ur learning, and messing around with. and I have found the cadence of difficulty is a bit ridiculous. So I have been working on syntorial now for like a week.
